The DISASTER is Bataleon’s classic urban assault weapon of mass destruction. It wrecks street spots like crack did in the 80s. A true twin in every sense like a jib board should be. The TOUGHCORE is constructed from pressure bonded wood composite. This is very flexible yet difficult to snap. We made the core super soft along its length and used core profiling to produce a flex pattern that is slightly softer outside the bindings than between them. This makes presses effortlessly legit, pop outs super certified and gives sexy flex on board slides. The thicker core between the bindings means that you get all of this without sacrificing too much stability when traveling at speed and she can take a hell of a beating. HAMMER EDGES are thicker, tougher, stronger and more durable than the average edges. Great when the board is up against metal and concrete, but also very useful whenever you bash something that isn’t snow!
BI-AX laminate layers are aligned along the board’s length and between its edges, both above and below the core. These facilitate the creation of an easy and forgiving flex and allow a direct feel of the terrain under your feet. BI-AX laminate layers do not increase torsional stiffness so the DISASTER retains an overall soft flex, both torsionally and along its length. A WIDE insert pattern offers the largest possible range of stance widths, which can accommodate everyone: from the narrowest to the widest stances! The construction is finished with an easy-to-repair extruded base, making the DISASTER a true street rail slayer that is at home on park rails and jumps and is also good fun for cruising on.
The DISASTER features JIB TBT. This is symmetric about the nose and tail and has the widest centre base (non TBT) section to keep presses and slides super stable. Unlike regular TBT, on which the centre base section features a smoothly curved camber profile, with JIB TBT the section between the bindings is flat. When the DISASTER is unloaded, this section is lifted off the floor because the nose and tail sections are angled slightly downwards. This results in a trapezoidal profile on the centre base section allowing the DISASTER to carve like a cambered board, but to press and butter like a rocker. Just without so many washed out landings! For the side base (TBT) sections, the JIB TBT uplift begins under the bindings for a super loose and forgiving effect. The TBT uplift angles are minimized since the edges only need to be raised incrementally to stop them catching on boxes and rails. Fewer edge catches are great because there is nothing wrong with getting away with it, especially not on rails!
This year’s graphic is again a minimal black and white classic, featuring an angry little monster with knuckle tattoos. We priced this board affordably so that during street missions you can concentrate on what matters – sticking it without getting hurt!
